Thank You For The Music

About 2 weeks ago, I went to the Mama Mia musical movie. Yesterday, I went to the ABBA Mania Concert. Now, their songs resonate in my head like some broken records. I hope I am not being maniacal.

The first time I heard ABBA songs, they came in cassettes. Wow! That was a long time ago.

Its has been 29 years since Abba last toured in 1979. They were really hot back then. Just imagine that when they were performing in UK, there were about 2 million requests for 5000 available tickets!

The concert recreated ABBA in a live stage performance and it surely took me back in time. The concert was first shown in 2000 and has been selling like hot cakes. The show has toured internationally in regions as far afield such as Venezuela, Tahiti and Mexico. Somehow, ABBA songs permeate every culture and language barriers.

The crowd at the concert was diversified: bubbly kiddos with funky parents, debonair gentlemen with chic companions and a whole lot of other ABBA manias. Many came ready with colorful feather boas. The ecstatic mood was simply contagious!

ABBA's timeless songs were written to be enjoyed live and the concert gave me exactly that. It was a solid 2 hours of uplifting, dance inducing and sometimes heart-breaking songs.

The concert was not only for the die hard fans but also for the younger generation who never had the chance to see ABBA live. Who can ever get enough of numbers like 'Dancing Queen', 'Waterloo', 'Mamma Mia', 'The Winner Takes it All', 'Super Trouper', 'Fernando' and 'Take A Chance On Me'???

After 2 hours of rhapsodic performance and a parade of glittering platform boots, outrageous jumpsuits and flare trousers, it was out-and-out gratification!

Verdict: You don't have to be an ABBA mania to enjoy the stupendous concert!
